Herndon, VA
January 18-19, 2006
We are pleased to announce that the Charter for the Advisory Committee on Water Information has been renewed. It was signed by Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton on November 7, 2005 and was filed with the General Accounting Office, Committee Secretariat on November 20, 2005. You will see the text of the renewed Charter on our ACWI web site sometime next week.
This is a calendar reminder that ACWI will hold it's 2006 Annual Meeting in Herndon, VA on January 18-19, 2006. These were the dates that the majority of you preferred in an earlier email poll. This meeting will include travel reimbursement for all non-Federal ACWI representatives (or their designated alternate) who reside outside of the Washington, DC metropolitan region. Registration will be available on-line as soon as we have the contract signed for the conference center.
This will be a full two-day meeting. Topics will include:
- Status of Action Items from the September 16, 2005 Interim Web Broadcast meeting, including copies of revised reports
- Presentations by all 8 ACWI subcommittees
- ACWI review and response to the Preliminary Report on the Design of a National Water Quality Monitoring Network for U.S. Coastal Waters and their Tributaries
- A special topic panel discussion on Emergency Response to Hurricane Katrina
If you know of someone in your organization who was involved in the response
to Katrina, who might want to be part of this panel, please provide us
with their contact information. So far, USEPA, USACE, NOAA/NWS have all
responded with speakers. DHS/FEMA and USGS are also being contacted. However,
we would like to include some panelists from outside the Federal government.
We will provide additional details via e-mail over the next couple weeks.
This information will also be posted on our website: http://water.usgs.gov/wicp/acwi/
as it becomes available.
Thanks to all of you for your continued interest, participation and support
in ACWI. We look forward to seeing you in January.
Please mark this important meeting on your 2006 Winter calendar!
