  1. Review of the Agenda and time schedule

    The agenda was approved.

  2. Introduction of members and guests

    People introduced themselves and announced whom they represented.

  3. No New Members were introduced.

  4. Approval of minutes of January 2001 meeting

    The Subcommittee approved the May 2001 minutes with minor edits.

  5. Review Activities and Accomplishments of Working Groups

    ­Report of the Modeling Work Group

    The Tucson workshop and meeting summary was posted to the web. The conference is scheduled for July 28­August 1, 2002. The Call for Papers requests abstracts by 11/30/01. The Task Force is meeting in Las Vegas 8/28­8/29.

    ­Report of Hydrologic Frequency Analysis Work Group

    The May 2 meeting minutes were distributed. Three new members joined as a result of the AWRA meeting in Florida. Will Thomas will prepare a list of members.

    Will Thomas requests comments on the recently distributed ungaged paper by 9/1. The paper will then be forwarded to the SOH for action.

    The Bulletin 17B FAQ's were emailed to the workgroup with comments requested by 7/19.

    Rocky Durrans is putting together a paper on urban detention ponds to help focus the group effort.

  6. ACWI Annual Meeting

    The annual meeting is on May 14-15 at the ASCE building in Reston VA.

    Glenn Austin presented for the subcommittee and handed out copies of his presentation. The presentation will also be posted on the main ACWI page.

  7. Announcements

    Don Frevert reported that the nominee for new commissioner of USBR is John Keys.

    Mike Grimm reported that a proposed rule for the use of "future conditions hydrology" was published. Also reported that FEMA's mapping specifications, including hydrology guidelines, are being updated and revised.

    Ken Visser reported that the BLM is going to watershed-based analyses. Also reported that there are currently drought issues esp. in California

    Sam Lin reported that as a result of the recent CA. energy crisis there is potential for (new) hydropower projects.

    Will Thomas reported that the ASFPM conference occurred in Charlotte NC June 3­8. Also reported that there was a session that focused on how Federal agencies can assist ASFPM on the no adverse impact imitative.

    Gene Stallings reported that he participated in the NHWC meeting in Ohio and presented "What's going on with the SOH". Also requested that someone brief the SOH on "hydro-radio frequency issues". Larry Wenzel will follow up with someone from Commerce Dept.

    Max Copenhagen reported that Mark Ray has been appointed the Undersecretary of Natural Resources and Environment. Reported there is an upcoming meeting of BLM hydrologists in Oct 2001. The National Watershed Forum occurred in Crystal City, VA. last week.

    Glenn Austin reported that other ACWI subcommittees have requested formal endorsement by the ACWI and the SOH should pursue this for the modeling conference. Reported that Geoff Bonnin is the new project manager for the Hydrologic Design Center.
